Video Music Awards
Awarded for Music videos and pop culture
Presented by MTV
Country United States
First awarded September 14, 1984–Present
Official website

The MTV Video Music Awards were established in the end of the summer of 1984 by MTV to celebrate the top music videos of the year. Originally beginning as an alternative to the Grammy Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards is now a respected pop culture awards show in its own right.[citation needed] They are presented annually and broadcast live on MTV. Past broadcasts have been held in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas. In 2008, the MTV Video Music awards were held in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California at Paramount Pictures Studios on September 7.

The statues given to winners is an astronaut on the moon, one of the earliest representations of MTV. The eligibility period for the Video Music Awards currently begins July 1. Before 2002, the VMAs were traditionally held on the second Thursday of September. The VMA's date was moved back a week so that it would never coincide with the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.[citation needed]

Other than presenting performers or announcing the winners, several of these celebrities have made taped appearances that will be shown during the awards show; these celebrities either talk about their favorite moments or controversial highlights that are much publicized by the media.

T.I. ft Rihanna - Livin' Your Life. (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

The video was premiered on October 28, 2008 on BET. The video is a mini-movie starring T.I and Rihanna. The music video uses the radio edit of the extended song. In the opening scene T.I is walking and he says "Life is an interesting journey; you never know where itll take you. Peaks and valleys, twists and turns, you can get the surprise of your life. Sometimes on the way to where you going you might think, this is the worst time in my life. But you know what, at the end of the road through all the adversity, if you can get where you wanted to be, you remember whatever dont kill you make you stronger, and all of the adversity was worth it. On your way to the top youll do anything. But how do you get your life back when you get thereyeahthats my dilemma." The song then starts and goes from a series of underground shots and Rihanna in her dressing room. T.I. goes back to walking and is showed with blood all over his face and other various cuts. He gets thrown out of the car and kicked by a fairly large man. He arrives at a drug-deal with about four dealers. He then proceeds as usual before he lands a punch on one of the dealers. He is then beaten up by the rest of the dealers. The video then takes its turn with going from T.I. singing in a recording studio to him and in front of a house playing dice and dominoes with some of his buddies. A quick shot of the bathroom appears with T.I. looking at his briefcase of money that he is preparing. The rest of the video takes turns going from the bar where T.I. refuses a deal and Rihanna singing on stage. The end of the video shows T.I. saying he wants out of the deal and he is seen walking into the bar with a cd in his hand. This is a flashback, referring, apparently, to the original deal that T.I. wanted to get out of. The last shot of the video is T.I. walking down the L.A. sewers, raising his hands triumphantly in the air. The music video has been posted on Myspace Tv. The video currently stands at number 1 on a fair amount of iTunes video charts. This video is currently #2 on BET's 106 & Park countdown. "Live Your Life" is a song by American rapper T.I. off his sixth album Paper Trail. The song features Barbadian R&B-pop singer Rihanna and was produced by Just Blaze and Canei Finch. It was released as the second single from the album. It officially premiered at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards during T.I.'s performance. This is T.I's third Billboard Hot 100 number one single in the United States (after "My Love" with Justin Timberlake and his previous single "Whatever You Like") and Rihanna's fifth on the same chart (after "SOS", "Umbrella", "Take a Bow" and "Disturbia"). The song contains a sample of O-Zone's Dragostea din Tei. On October 15, 2008, the song was added to BBC Radio 1's B List and has since been moved to the A List. [2] It was released as a Digital Download on November 8 (in the UK) and is due for physical release on November 24. Disclaimer: I do not own this video in any way. This video is for promotional purpose only.
