Today's tracking polls: Obama leads by 5 to 8 percentage points Today's national tracking polls, based on interviews conducted Thursday through Saturday, are the first to reflect Friday night's debate. Click on each poll for trends, sample size and margin of error. The Gallup poll shows Democrat Barack Obama at 50%, Republican John McCain at 42%. That's 1 percentage point shy of Obama's largest lead in the poll this year. "Overall, Obama has gained four percentage points over the last three days, while McCain has lost four points, for an eight-point swing in the 'gap' or margin," Gallup editor Frank Newport writes. BEIJING (AP) — Three Chinese astronauts emerged from their capsule Sunday upon a jubilant return to Earth after successfully completing the country's first-ever spacewalk mission. State broadcaster CCTV showed their Shenzhou 7 spaceship landing under clear skies in the grasslands of China's northern Inner Mongolia region at 5:37 p.m. (0937 GMT). Premier Wen Jiabao applauded at mission control in Beijing. "The astronauts feel very good," mission commander Zhai Zhigang said as the vessel floated down to Earth under a red and white striped giant parachute. After landing, the astronauts sipped bottled water as they were given medical examinations inside the module. They stayed inside for about 46 minutes to adapt to Earth's gravity before slowly crawling out of the narrow entrance. The astronauts waved as they emerged and sat on blue fold-out chairs outside the capsule. They were each presented with a bouquet of flowers. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/space/2008-09-28-china-space_N.htm
