Tasheena Haymon "Sensate Focus"
Here is my podcast script. I have references at the bottom. Enjoy! ;) Music-intro Hi. My name is Tasheena Haymon. Welcome to my Slide Show. Today we will be discussing Sensate Focus. In Sex Therapy: Sensate Focus is used for treatment purposes. Sensate focus is a technique that is used for couples to highlight the sense of touch without having sex. According to my interview with Lorna Hecker, who is a Marriage and Family therapist for the Purdue University Calumet Couple and Family Therapy Center, says that The goal is to help both partners learn to give and receive pleasure, increase self awareness, communication, and a general sense of safety. As they become more comfortable, they can progress to genital stimulation. (picture 1) Sex therapists use sensate focus to help couples who have low sexual desire, ejaculation problems, or orgasm problems. (Hecker 2008) (picture 2-3) Sensate focus was first invented by Masters and Johnson. It was revolutionary at the time and still is to help couples rediscover each other and increase sexual intimacy and to fully enjoy the pleasures of sex. (de Villers 2005) (picture 4) Sensate focus wasnt intended to be a form of foreplay to sex but an experience in itself. (de Villers 2005) Now a days sex therapists will prescribe sensate focus to a couple who seems to rush sex and arent allowing themselves time to relax and get fully aroused to enjoy sex. Sometimes sensate focus can be used as a form of foreplay for a couple to try on their own, still most sex therapists discourage genital touching in sensate focus. (pictures 5-8) Sensate focus in itself is a great tool to reestablish desire in the bedroom, but it is used with other types of homework assignments that the therapist prescribes to the couple. (de Villers 2005) (picture 9) When couples practice sensate focus, they are usually nude and in a private place. (de Villers 2005) They begin with stroking lightly any place on the body their partner wants to be touched and then they switch so that both people get to experience giving and receiving. The partners can tell each other where and how they want to be touched; this opens up the lines of communication between the couple. (de Villers 2005) Usually they end up sensually caressing the whole body except the genitals. In sensate focus, the goal is to caress your partner sensually, not massaging. You want to wake up the body to prepare it to anticipate making love. Massaging the body actually numbs the skin, so massage is discouraged in sensate focus. (de Villers 2005) (picture 10) In sex therapy, the therapist will suggest that you set aside one hour to practice sensate focus. Each person for thirty minutes will enjoy being touched, and sensually touching your partner. (de Villers 2005)So the couple will take turns touching and being touched. (picture 11) The benefits of sensate focus are to help manage low sexual desire, ejaculation and orgasm problems, and to truly rekindle the desire you once had with your partner. By rediscovering the sensations of touch, you can fully appreciate giving and receiving in the bedroom. It can heighten your desire for sexual encounters and increase communication between both partners. (picture 12) In conclusion, sensate focus is sensually touching your partner to highlight the sense of touch without touching the genitals or having a sexual encounter. This revolutionary technique was created by Masters and Johnson. Sensate is not intended to be a form of foreplay; it is however used to slow things down so that the couple fully enjoys touching their partner and being touched by their partner. Sensate helps to increase self awareness and communication between partners. They can also rediscover the fire they once had for their partner. If there are still any questions read the story *points down*, if not ignore the rest, you dont have to endure my bad English and lame storytelling ^^°. ~*~ STORY ~*~ Mainly the AMVs plot follows the lyric. (0:00 0:41) It starts with Inuart who is about to play the usual song. He tells a story in which he was involved. The scenes till 0:41 are explaining the main plot. Inuart may know what happened, but he does not understand why everything turned out the way it ends (Fool who does not understand). The main protagonists were Furiae, a gypsy woman, Caim, a gypsy man and their son Seere (pretend that Manah (young) is the same person as Seere. I mean, they are twins. They look alike and who in this whole wide world always wears the same clothes? Okay, normally boys arent wearing dresses). Furiae who always was alone wants a husband, so she begs that the moon (Manah (old)) will fulfil her desire. (0:42 1:14) The moon is about to realize this wish but only if Furiae will give her the first son she will give birth to. The Furiae is about to kill Seere-scene is meant as a metaphor. She hasnt really killed him, but it shows that she willingly would sacrifice her own son for not being alone. (1:15 1:23) Eris symbolises all women and also what the moon cannot become, just because there is no one who loves her so much to give her a human shape. The hands shall show that the moon tried to find a love but everyone went away from her. (1:24 1:48) The scene with Inuart is about his first meeting with Seere and he sees that this child is not a human being. He asks the moon what she wants from this child, but gets no answer. (1:49 1:52) Caims introduction. (1:53 2:09) This shows mainly the difference between Seere and his parents. (2:10 2:22) Now begins the drama xD Caim can no longer endure this child which cant be his. He shows murderous intends toward Seere. (2:23 2:40) Random scenes of Furiaes, Caims and Seeres lifes and an attempt of the moon to be loved. (2:41 2:49) Caim grabs his knife (sword -.-°) and is going to his wife and child. (2:50 3:00) He remembers the days when everything was peaceful. (3:01 3:09) Again, knife/sword scene. (3:10 3:13) Caim remembers that Inuart once had an affair with Furiae (before Caim met her) and thinks (of course) that Seere has to be Inuarts son. This scene explains also why Inuart is interested in singing the whole song and his curiosity about Seere (Caim killed his love Q_Q). (3:14 3:29) Caim kills Furiae and abandons Seere somewhere. (3:30 3:43) Again, the moon tries to be loved. The Nowe-flies-away-scene and the battle in the background shall show that just because of the moons egoistic wish the whole tragedy happened. (3:34 3:47) Another possible, but also bad solution of the drama. Caim would let his wife live, but because of the laws he would be allowed to kill the illegitimate child (the priest (?) is meant as someone who watches if everything goes legal, somehow like a judge). (3:48 4:07) Caim lives on and is about to forget the child he has abandoned. (4:08 4:25) Back in the present, Inuart explains the moon cycle ;P Dont take it to serious And, more importantly, the listener hears that the child is still alive, despite the fact that it should have died after Caim had forsaken it. (4:26 4:35) Seere and the moon finally are able to meet and Seere is, the first time in his life, truly loved. (4:36 4:40/ 4:41 4:52) This is how everything could have been (till 4:40) and how it turned out. Caim regrets his actions now but cant rewind time. The Assassination of Martin Luther King
King was booked in room 306 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, owned by black businessman Walter Bailey (and named for his wife). King's close friend and colleague, Reverend Ralph David Abernathy, who was present at the assassination, told the House Select Committee on Assassinations that King and his entourage stayed in room 306 at the Lorraine Motel so often that it was known as the "King-Abernathy Suite." According to biographer Taylor Branch, King's last words were to musician Ben Branch, who was scheduled to perform that night at an event King was going to attend: "Ben, make sure you play 'Take My Hand, Precious Lord' in the meeting tonight. Play it real pretty." At 6:01 p.m. on April 4, 1968, while he was standing on the motel's second floor balcony, King was struck by a single bullet fired from a rifle. The bullet travelled through his right cheek, smashing his jaw and then going down his spinal cord before lodging in his shoulder. King was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where doctors opened his chest and performed manual heart massage. He was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. According to biographer Taylor Branch, King's autopsy revealed that though he was only 39 years old, he had the heart of a 60 year old man. Two months after King's death, escaped convict James Earl Ray was captured at London Heathrow Airport while trying to leave the United Kingdom for Angola, Rhodesia, or South Africa on a false Canadian passport in the name of Ramon George Sneyd. Ray was quickly extradited to Tennessee and charged with King's murder, confessing to the assassination on March 10, 1969 (although he recanted this confession three days later). On the advice of his attorney Percy Foreman, Ray took a guilty plea to avoid a trial conviction and thus the possibility of receiving the death penalty. Ray was sentenced to a 99-year prison term. Ray fired Foreman as his attorney (from then on derisively calling him "Percy Fourflusher") claiming that a man he met in Montreal, Canada with the alias "Raoul" was involved, as was his brother Johnny, but not himself, further asserting that although he did not "personally shoot King," he may have been "partially responsible without knowing it," hinting at a conspiracy. He spent the remainder of his life attempting (unsuccessfully) to withdraw his guilty plea and secure the trial he never had. Ray and seven other convicts escaped from Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tennessee on June 10, 1977. They were recaptured on June 13, three days later, and returned to prison. One more year was added to his previous sentence to total 100 years. Shortly after, Ray testified that he did not shoot King to the House Select Committee on Assassinations.
